Why shouldn't I?

When I was 16... two years before starting "The Dukes of Hazzard" I weighed 245 pounds and had a 44 in waist. Fat teen. An actor, yes. But, as my brother so delicately put it as I wolfed down my second elephant ear at Six Flags Over Georgia "How many obese movie stars do you know?"
Two months later I had shed 50 pounds and was down to a 36 inch waist. Bravo! Tough love wins almost every time. Thanks Bob.
I kep that weight off until the winter on 2010. I was doing Desperate Housewives and had a costume fitting and a physical. 228 pounds and a 38 inch waist. Yikes! After kkeepng that weight off for over 30 years it looked like it was coming back!
I wanted nothing to do with it. My plan was to join a gym and shed the weight ASAP.
Then I saw the ad for P90X on TV. When the guy said "Do your best and forget the rest." I was intrigued. When he said "Just press play." I had to have it.
I am now 197 and have a 34 inch waist. I am arguably in BETTER shape and health than I was when I did Dukes and have helped around 100 people loose a collective 2017 pounds in the last nin months or so!
I am proud of that.
So proud that I have FBed and TWted about how you can do the same thing if you are in need of loosing a little or a lot. If you have tried gyms and haven't lost what you thought you would or gotten in better cardiac shape than you currently are.
I do that because I know what it's like to be heavy and I know what its like to be out of breath and know what its like to workout and get no results.
Now the point of the rant -
Why do people give me crap on FB and TW when I put something out there that I believe in so much that I am sure can help them? This shit works! It's hard, yeah... but it works wonders. I belioeve in it and I want to share it (not to mention the fact that people who do it actually make money woithout being celebrities. Work the program and the business and your life will change).
See... I sound like a salesman. Guess that's it.
I'm excited. I'm in the best shape of my life. I want to share it.
It's a free country... right?

  1. I'm sorry people are giving you such a hard time about it. Truth is, no matter what you do, even with the best of intentions, you're going to get your nay-sayers. Some will be that way because they are jealous that they can't do what you're doing. And some will do it simply out of the sick pleasure of bringing others down.

As for me, I respect you as a person and a performer. I always have. Anything you support, I know that you do so with your whole heart and from an attempt to better others. Just keep doing what you're doing, John, and forget about the others. They aren't worth it.

  2. You are the first person to respond to my blog! Thank you for the kind words. My hope is that this is a place where I can really conect with people and not just fall into the cracks of social media.
Thank you for being the first.
Is there aplace on this blog where you can ask me a question? Or do I have to go back to the designing drawing board?

  3. It angers me that people try to hold you up to an impossible standard. Keep paying it forward and helping people it is a shame that more people do not use their social position to help others.

The fact is...you have EARNED your right to carry an influence with guiding people. You have walked the walk and done the work. You have spent countless hours doing the routines and working with your team. We are all better because of it. I AM ALIVE BECAUSE YOU STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN!!!! Is there a greater reward than saving lives???

Never doubt your decisions and nobody has the right to tell you how to do anything. We are all individuals with our own beliefs our own way of doing things and that is what makes each person special.

I imagine at times it is HARD to have thick skin. I know, my skin is much to thin. Keep doing what you believe. As far as roles...It is your JOB to make us believe in the story. If you played an Axe murderer...nobody would think that you moonlighted as one. Geeeeze!!! People need to get a grip and quit griping over senseless things.

KEEP BRINGING IT in all AREAS OF YOUR LIFE!!!! :o)

  4. I'm honored to be the first, actually. :)

Truthfully, I'm way more handy with facebook than I am with blogging, so I'm not sure how I would be able to ask you a question outside of comments like these, but I can take a look around, and if I see a place or figure out how, I can definitely shoot you one... question, that is. lol.

  5. Who in the world is giving you a hard time and about what? All I have to say is prove all the people WRONG if they are saying you can't do something if that's the case, but even if that's not the case you will show all the nay sayers! That's what I've been doing one step at a time. After I get my Black belt in TKD I plan on moving to continue my training with one of my heroes from Power Rangers. I'm getting SO very excited about it even if it isn't going to be for quite a few years.

I've learned a lot from you & a few others which is why I look up to you all so much & you were actually the very first person to tell me I could do anything. You will prove all the mean people wrong. That's what those types of people are too me just "MEAN"!

    1. I reccomend that you use a drink like "Shakeology" in addition to a meal twice a day. I blend mine up in a Magic Bullet Blender with water and ice. You might try peanut butter and milk. The key is to put that fuel to work though. Start a workout program and stick with it. One that has you doing something every day (P90X has me stretching for an hour on the 7th day and then starting all over again the following day. The key is to feed your body the proper nutrients and then put them to work. When we eat and don't exercise there is no choice but for our bodies to turn what we don't eliminate into fat. Conversely... when we work out hard, we need fuel. If we put that fuel in there then the workouts will be all that much more impactful on our overall fitness.
I've got great stuff that will help at johnschneider.net Go there, look around and then click on my name on the right side of the page. I am happy to recommend a workout program or answer any questions you have once you've been there.

  7. John,

Hello! Just heard about your blog from a group I'm a member of on facebook. Good portrait photo of you here on your blog and it reminds me of some of the photos of you back in the late 1980's, however this one has a more rugged look. Just want to say "thank you" once more for getting to talk to you back in December 2010, when you had the ebay deal for $100. I hope you do so again sometime. Keep up the good work. :)

  9. John, what you have done in talking about health and fitness in a healthy way is a great service. You walk the walk. You have inspired a large group of people to lose a LOT of weight individually. Because of your efforts to share your personal experiences, you have helped people to lose weight, decrease their blood sugar, decrease their cholesterol and triglycerides and many were able to get off dangerous medication as a reult. Losing weight seems to be the single thing that someone can to to significantly improve not only the quality of life but to also increase longevity. Being overweight increases cancer risk, heart attack risk, stroke risk. Lack of exercise is a epidemic and is a disease in and of itself. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER underestimate the benefit of what you have started, and refuse to let ANYONE cast negativity. You have been able to do what doctors attempt to do every day. YOU quite literally are saving LIVES. PRICELESS.

  11. John.....you have helped countless numbers of people lose thousands of pounds...and you’ve only just begun. I remember a wise man once telling me....”Do not defend yourself in cases like this...it’s like casting pearls before swine.” He was a wise man. I took that advice to heart and have followed suit ever since!!

  12. I would not worry about the people who are giving you grief as they are just showing their ignorance and their jealousy over your outstanding achievements and your overwhelming kindness to try to help people that truly want it. You are a fantastic person, do not let their pettiness get to you. We fans, friends and family love you and appreciate everything that you do on a daily basis.... Onward :-)
