...and damned if you don't.

People are interesting. And I am finding it interesting that people are being polarized by my upcoming film "Doonby." Especially since they have yet to see it. Do you think it is by design that marketers get people in a lather about films before they come out? Do you think it's fair? I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Hard to say because I am so close to the film and want it to open well in Dallas next weekend so that it can be on 1000 screens this summer.
The film has an interesting perspective and it is approached in a way I haven't seen before... truly.
Daring I like daring.
Maybe people are, by nature, oppositional. Maybe it's intellectual sparring. Maybe some folks are just contrary.
I've been accused of that, and rightfully so, on many occasions.
I like debate. Use to love appearing on "Politically Incorrect." LOVED it!
By the way... the "polarization" is that one side says it can't be faith based because I work in a bar ad there is drinking... and the other side says that it is intolerant of choice because it offers a perspective on an ongoing political and personal issue that doesn't fit with the liberal perspective.
A case of "Damned if you do and damned if you don't" if you ask me.
What do you think? Should filmmakers be able to offer up a different perspective for people to ponder or should they stick to the main stream beliefs in order to make a buck?
A teacher frien of mine from Berkley once said "Answers are easy. A dime a dozen, really. Everyone has an answer to just about everything. It's the formulation of a really good QUESTIOM that's tough. Good questions are what change the world."
I agree. So...
Here's a question of mine that often gets me in trouble. I think it's a god question, really. Goes like this:
If wine and alchol is bad for us and basically evil in nature...
Why didn't Jesus turn excellent wine into pure water instead of the other way around?
Yup... I can tell that I'm in trouble all over again for that one.

Personal pitfalls of Social Media

I was recently accused of being uncaring because I didn't publicly announce my grief over a friend who had passed away. It seems as if the  speed in which you FB or TW or WHATEVER your most personal feelings is the tape with which your humanity is currently measured.
I don't like it.
Grief is personal, not public. Unless, of course you choose to grieve publicly. If you do... that is fine. If you don't... it doesn't make you any less sad or any less a friend to those who have passed nor to those they have left behind.
I'm just sayin'.

Lov'em

My wife was just visiting our gramdbaby (first) away from home and I had to stay here. Didn't get to go. Hopefully soon. Anyway... my first question to her was "Did you get to nibble on that little heal yet?" She said no. I think she may have afterwards though.
Anybody out there but me love baby feet? They are soooo cute and soft. Something about'em.
Lov'em!
Just tossing that out there. I also like the smell of puppy breath.
Another time then..

Why shouldn't I?

When I was 16... two years before starting "The Dukes of Hazzard" I weighed 245 pounds and had a 44 in waist. Fat teen. An actor, yes. But, as my brother so delicately put it as I wolfed down my second elephant ear at Six Flags Over Georgia "How many obese movie stars do you know?"
Two months later I had shed 50 pounds and was down to a 36 inch waist. Bravo! Tough love wins almost every time. Thanks Bob.
I kep that weight off until the winter on 2010. I was doing Desperate Housewives and had a costume fitting and a physical. 228 pounds and a 38 inch waist. Yikes! After kkeepng that weight off for over 30 years it looked like it was coming back!
I wanted nothing to do with it. My plan was to join a gym and shed the weight ASAP.
Then I saw the ad for P90X on TV. When the guy said "Do your best and forget the rest." I was intrigued. When he said "Just press play." I had to have it.
I am now 197 and have a 34 inch waist. I am arguably in BETTER shape and health than I was when I did Dukes and have helped around 100 people loose a collective 2017 pounds in the last nin months or so!
I am proud of that.
So proud that I have FBed and TWted about how you can do the same thing if you are in need of loosing a little or a lot. If you have tried gyms and haven't lost what you thought you would or gotten in better cardiac shape than you currently are.
I do that because I know what it's like to be heavy and I know what its like to be out of breath and know what its like to workout and get no results.
Now the point of the rant -
Why do people give me crap on FB and TW when I put something out there that I believe in so much that I am sure can help them? This shit works! It's hard, yeah... but it works wonders. I belioeve in it and I want to share it (not to mention the fact that people who do it actually make money woithout being celebrities. Work the program and the business and your life will change).
See... I sound like a salesman. Guess that's it.
I'm excited. I'm in the best shape of my life. I want to share it.
It's a free country... right?
